Macbook Pro 13 & Ipad 2 Case (Deluxe Model).

First of all, thanks to Jon and Kerry Ganna for coming up with the basic idea for the standard combination case, and then following through to arrive at this deluxe version.
No choice...it has to be called The Ganna Case (deluxe).
Priced at €290,00 plus €35,00 for insurance and delivery it is nearly twice the price of the standard version. If you want to know why, have a read below so you really know what you're getting for your money.
The leather we use for the deluxe case is the same as we use for the standard case. 2.2mm thick, vegetable tanned, full grain cowhide. If this means nothing to you see About Leather.
This is where things begin to differ. Camel coloured pigskin is glued, reverse side up onto the back of the cowhide. This photo shows the pull tabs, which have been glued to the cowhide under the pigskin and then passed through slots cut in the pigskin. (pigskin is incredibly tough and ideal for linings).
The leather is then dyed with a colour fast spirit dye. At this point we glue and sew in what will become the back of the Ipad 2 pocket.
Now you can see where the extra expense comes in. Apart from the cost of the pigskin and the time taken to glue it in, every edge has to be sewn. In the standard version sewing is only necessary to join two pieces of cowhide together, e.g. The smaller pocket to the larger pocket and then the front of the case to the back of the case. In this photo you can see the stitching at the top of the pockets. This isn't necessary on the standard case.
Every single stitch on this case is saddle stitch. It's time consuming and hard work on the fingers but is far far superior to any machine stitching. We use 1mm thick waxed, braided polyester thread which will not break or rot.
As you can see from the photos below, the lid, the fastening strap and the carrying strap are all saddle stitched. Again this is not necessary on the standard model.
Below, the photo on the left shows the two wooden formers fully in their respective pockets (the formers are made to be a fraction bigger than the devices they represent).
The photo on the right shows the formers pulled out with their pull tags, making them easier to grasp.
Even the small case for the charger unit is fully lined and put together with the same care as the main case.
The charger case is fitted with two brass buckles that match the buckle on the main case. One for closing the case, and one for fixing the charger case to the main case.
One last small touch. Before sewing on the fastening strap to the main case, we've stuck a shaped piece of cowhide to the back of it. This gives an attractive padded look to the finished item.
