Handmade Patterned Retro Leather Shoulder Bags.
We repair five to ten handbags every week and it’s always the same problems. Broken straps, broken catches and broken zips.The answer to this, (as always) is really simple. Extra thick carrying strap, a leather fastening system instead of a metal catch and no zips. Also no lining to tear and no compartments for the stitching to unravel. What you get for a surprisingly small amount of money is a handbag made from 2.5mm thick cowhide with a 3mm. thick shoulder strap. The bag is completely hand stitched with waxed cotton that is approx. five times thicker than machine cotton used on most bags.
Exactly the same size and shape shoulder bag, but with a different shape lid and a double strap closure.
This bag has a random leaf pattern running down the side and is shown in brown.
As you can see, there are no compartments. My wife says you don’t need them because you can never remember what compartment you’ve put something in anyway.
The next choice is, what colour? We use spirit based, penetrating dyes for all our bags. These give deep rich colours that really glow but, don’t hide vein marks or wrinkles. Waterbased dyes look flat and lifeless and spraypainted leather looks like plastic and is used to cover inferior, cheap leathers (click About Leather). Although the next thing you see will be the six different colours we offer, you won’t be asked to make a choice until later.
