Handmade Leather Woven Belts
Our handmade woven leather belts are made from two pieces of 2mm thick, full grain leather. Both pieces are slotted and then woven in and out of each other. This gives a very bulky weave that we have to flatten down by wetting and hammering.
As you can see, making this belt is a really time consuming project. The next job is to dye the front and back of the belt and leave it to dry.
As the woven belts are made with two pieces of leather the ends have to be glued, tipped and then sewn.
The buckle has to have it’s own assembly system as it’s impossible to double over two pieces of leather for a conventional buckle fixing.
We’ve always made these woven belts in black, brown, mahogany and tan. The best seller by a long way is mahogany. There’s something about this colour that works so well on this style of belt. We offer this belt in four of our regular colours ( not green or crimson), but would recommend mahogany as the best looking.

There are two buckle styles for woven belts, and both come in brass, or nickel over brass.
Buckle No.1 is a real traditional shape and is shown here in brass. Buckle No.2 is a little more modern and is shown here in nickel. As with the colours, you’ll be asked to make your choice at the bottom of the page.

At last, your final choice. You have to take a measurement to determine what length your new belt will be. Whether your old belt is a bit too long, or a bit too short, take a measurement from the tip of the buckle to the hole that you are using now. This measurement lets me calculate the correct length of the new belt, that is to say, that when you wear your new belt you should be using the centre hole of 5 holes.(as diagram below). You can take this measurements in cm or inches as you will be typing this figure in later. Do not go by the number on the back of your old belt, manufacturers sizes vary. Even waist measurements of jeans or trousers can be inaccurate. The best way to measure for your new belt is to measure your old belt. Remember, measure from the tip of the buckle to the hole that you use now.
