Suit belts
Because of space limitations, we can't make top quality suit belts. Very annoying. Basically we need a skiving machine and a real heavy duty sewing machine. We just can't fit them in the workshop. The solution was to get someone else to make them for us. Not as easy as you may think because belt manufacturers aren't interested in small specialized orders, they just want to sell you their products which they make in enormous quantities.
We finally found a small family company in Valencia who will do as we ask. We choose the leathers, we choose the buckles and we specify the thread strength. They show us what is possible in the way of design and manufacture.
We now believe we have a range of absolutely unbeatable quality suit belts, at prices to suit every pocket.
At the bottom of this page I've drawn two belts. The top belt shows how belts can be made for next to nothing and then sold at whatever price you can get for them because they look substantial. The bottom belt shows how we have them made using only top quality cowhide. No plastic, no rubber, no cardboard.
All belts come with a chrome finished buckle. Very nice quality.
You have to take a measurement to determine what length your new belt will be. Whether your old belt is a bit too long, or a bit too short, take a measurement from the tip of the buckle to the hole that you are using now. This measurement lets me calculate the correct length of the new belt, that is to say, that when you wear your new belt you should be using the centre hole of 5 holes.(as diagram below). You can take this measurements in cm or inches as you will be typing this figure in later. Do not go by the number on the back of your old belt, manufacturers sizes vary. Even waist measurements of jeans or trousers can be inaccurate. The best way to measure for your new belt is to measure your old belt. Remember, measure from the tip of the buckle to the hole that you use now.

The top drawing shows a belt that is probably no more than 10% leather, the other 90% being plastic and/or cardboard or rubber. The problem with this type of belt is that there is no long term flexibility. Cardboard, rubber and plastic break if you flex them a few times. Usually these belts break across the back surface where you use the buckle holes. The crazy thing is, it is perfectly legal to descibe this mixture of junk as a leather belt.
The bottom drawing shows how we have our belts made, 100% leather. You can use these belts, year in year out, never a problem with cracking or breaking, always looking good.
